When I lived overseas I wasn’t in a hot place (NW China), but the “being different” and bureaucraticness — that is a good word — they take their toll for sure. I heard one friend who lives in Kenya say she would look at her face in the mirror and wonder why she was so pale! Not from exhaustion – just from being used to seeing everyone else with dark skin.
OK – I must go back to writing.
